little madeleine was born last night.  she and my sister are doing very well.

weekend o' weddings

this past weekend, i took the train down to dc to attend two weddings — without joe!  he actually left for south africa for a month-long lecture tour.  trying not to think too much about how long he's going to be away.  we'll see how it goes.

first wedding, friday night — my friend jackie married her fiancé, mike.  jackie and i were in ap bio together in high school junior year.  a few highlights:  my friend isabel sang at the ceremony, i got some wonderful news from my friend beth, and i got to sit with beth, sarah, and izzy at the reception.  these kinds of mini-reunions are so much better than the "official" ones organized by my high school class.  my friends need to get married (locally) more often!

second wedding, saturday afternoon — my cousin ni-cheng married her fiancé, gerald.  the reception was a huge chinese eight-course wedding banquet plus dessert.  saw some relatives i hadn't seen in awhile, which is always nice. ni-cheng and gerald also had the most unusual and innovative couple's first dance i've ever seen.
