crawl, brunch, cash

woke up early this morning to help joe present a check from broadway cares/equity fights aids to sean and leo of the thirty-three mile crawl.  i helped take pictures of the check-presenting ceremony in times square, with some artsy/candid shots of mr. man (the best one being the above).

afterwards, we met up with sam and meg for brunch at a nice french restaurant on the upper east side.  meg reacted with the appropriate amount of awe when i told her of my joss encounter of the third kind.  sam and meg also convinced me that walk the line is a movie worth seeing.  after brunch, sam and meg gave us a tour of their apartment, and then we went on our merry way.

we ended up back in times square for the movie.  i love reese witherspoon, but never really cared much for joaquin.  i have to say, though, the way he played this role, and the fact that he actually sang, won me over.  i'll still wait to see his next film or two before i declare myself a fan, though.

oh, and the trailer for x3 made me drool like a fanboy.

sweeney joss

a few fun facts:

  • like me, this writer is a big fan of this composer.
  • writer guy saw the original 1979 production of this show by composer guy.
  • writer guy has written and composed his own musical (albeit for television), which is also a witty blend of horror and humor.
  • composer guy went to the same college as i did, though about forty-five years earlier.
  • writer guy is one of my favorite writers for television, film and comic books.
  • writer guy was at the eugene o'neill theater last tuesday to see the 2005 revival of composer guy's show and happened to be standing in the aisle next to where joe and i were sitting a few minutes before the curtain went up.

*swoon*
