jersey shore

just spent five days down in ortley beach with joe, his brother nick, and nick's girlfriend christine.  went to the beach, ate a lot, drove around, walked along the boardwalk, played some skeeball, went on a few thrill rides, and even got to spend an afternoon with four of joe's nephews.  i also went to see two movies and have since forsworn anything involving m. night shyamalan or will smith (unless i happen to catch them on cable).  at least the village had some silly catch-phrases which joe and i were able to appropriate for our own entertainment.  ("she of whom we do not speak wears the bad color.")  yes, we are easily amused.

on our way back to brooklyn, we stopped at ikea, but walked away empty-handed after we discovered that the dining table and chair set i wanted wouldn't fit in the ford focus we'd rented.  so, essentially, we made a two-hour detour for a swedish meatball lunch. 

ah, well.  the vacation was fun, but it's still good to be home...
